Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake 2 has achieved sales of 1.3 million copies, making it the studio’s quickest-selling title to date. According to a press statement regarding the game’s sales figures, by the end of December 2023, the game had reached the milestone of one million units sold, and by early February 2024, sales had increased to 1.3 million units.
The studio highlighted that Alan Wake 2 surpassed the initial sales performance of its previous game, Control, by more than 50% in terms of total copies sold and tripled the number of digital sales within the first two months after its release. To date, “Control” has sold over four million units since its launch in 2019.
Remedy expressed optimism about the game’s potential for sustained sales over time, indicating plans to further promote and support Alan Wake 2. This includes the release of two paid downloadable content (DLC) packs to continue the game’s story, alongside updates and various community support activities.
Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy, shared that the success of Alan Wake 2 has positively influenced the development of the studio’s upcoming projects. With staff members being reassigned from Alan Wake 2, projects such as Condor, Control 2, and the remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2 are experiencing accelerated development, with expectations to progress to the next stages in the first half of 2024.
