Xbox’s Free Play Days Will Offer the Gears of War: E‑Day Beta and Two RPGs

The Gears of War: E‑Day beta runs until August 17, while Sunderfolk and Asdivine Cross leave the event on August 16.

Xbox’s next Free Play Days event will bring three very different games to Game Pass members starting Thursday, August 13. The Xbox Wire announcement confirms that Gears of War: E‑Day, Sunderfolk, and Asdivine Cross will be available during separate event windows for Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate members.

Gears of War: E‑Day beta runs through August 17

The Gears of War: E‑Day open beta will begin on August 13 at 12pm PT and end on August 17 at 10am PT. It will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, giving players a chance to try the upcoming game’s multiplayer before its scheduled October 6 launch.

The beta includes Horde Siege, a 12-player PvE mode built around large maps and bigger battles, along with 4v4 Versus PvP matches. Players will also be able to complete challenges for exclusive beta rewards and send feedback ahead of launch. The official beta details confirm that console multiplayer requires a Game Pass membership with access to online multiplayer.

Sunderfolk adds new Patch 2.0 content

Sunderfolk will be playable from Thursday, August 13, through Sunday, August 16, for Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate members. The tactical co-op RPG lets a phone act as a guidebook, controller, and player sheet, so one copy can support an entire party.

The Free Play Days trial includes content from Patch 2.0, including the Vanguard hero and two scenarios. In Sacred Sand, the Sacred Bug needs help reclaiming its home from an ancient foe. Arena Rumble sends the party into battles against contenders from across the Sunderlands.

A free mobile app is required to play Sunderfolk.

Asdivine Cross offers a classic turn-based RPG

Asdivine Cross will share the August 13–16 window. The fantasy RPG supports Xbox Series X|S, Smart Delivery, and Xbox Play Anywhere, and it is also available on Xbox PC.

The story follows Harvey, a small-time outlaw who is imprisoned alongside a woman claiming to be a princess. Their escape leads into a journey tied to Asdivine’s future. Turn-based battles, companion trust, powerful combos, more than 200 enemy skills with Lucile, subquests, weapon upgrades, and an arena give the adventure plenty of room for different play styles.

How to access the Free Play Days lineup

On console, open the Xbox Store, select the Subscriptions tab, and find the Free Play Days collection on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. On PC, players can open each game’s Store page, sign in with an eligible membership, and choose the install option.

Limited-time discounts will also be available for purchasing the games and other editions, although the discount amount and availability can vary by title and region. Buying a game lets players continue after the event while keeping the Gamerscore and achievements earned during the trial.
