Train Sim World 6, Icarus, and Lynked Are Free to Try on Xbox Through August 23

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members can play all three titles, with Icarus carrying a 30% limited-time discount on its console edition and available DLC.

Three very different games are ready for a free trial on Xbox from Thursday, August 20, through Sunday, August 23. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members can play Train Sim World 6: Standard Edition, Icarus: Console Edition, and Lynked: Banner of the Spark without purchasing them first. The lineup is confirmed in Xbox Wire’s Free Play Days announcement.

On the web, members can open the individual game pages, sign in with an eligible membership, and choose the install option. Console players can open the Xbox Store’s Subscriptions tab and find the Free Play Days collection on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

The three games available through August 23

Train Sim World 6: Standard Edition is the railway pick, offering three routes and several detailed trains to operate. The Riviera Line runs along the Dawlish Sea Wall and across the Devon Banks with the GWR Class 802 and Class 150/2. Players can also travel from Nahverkehr Dresden along the BAHNSTRECKE LEIPZIG – DRESDEN route aboard the DB BR 411 ICE-T and other trains.

The game supports Xbox Series X|S, Smart Delivery, and Xbox Play Anywhere, giving this choice a few extra Xbox features alongside its long stretches of track. It is a nice option for anyone who thinks a relaxing train ride sounds better than another battle with a giant boss.

Icarus: Console Edition sends players to a dangerous alien world where survival comes first. The free trial includes the core loop of building shelter, crafting weapons, hunting, exploring the environment, and dealing with dangerous wildlife and harsh weather. It can be played alone or with up to four players.

Players who decide to continue after Free Play Days can save 30% on the console edition and all available DLC for a limited time. Discount details and title availability can vary by game and region.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark mixes roguelite combat with life-sim progression. Its colorful world sends players against groups of robot enemies and powerful bosses, with parts and other resources earned in combat feeding into home-base upgrades. Customization is part of the package too, so there is room to improve both the hero and the place they are trying to protect.

Keep progress after the trial

Buying one of the games or another edition after trying it during Free Play Days allows players to continue the adventure while keeping the Gamerscore and achievements earned during the event. The wider purchase discounts are limited-time offers, and their percentages may differ by title and region.
