Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said Grand Theft Auto VI will not stream exclusively or to PC. He also said Xbox is looking forward to launching the game on November 19, 2026.
While the excitement for GTAVI and XBOX is great to see, it has also led to some misreporting. We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.

The clarification follows Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s internal all-hands remark that the company was doing something for GTA VI that no other platform holder was doing. Tom Warren’s report for The Verge connected that remark to an exclusive PC-streaming plan, citing people familiar with Xbox’s plans. Ball’s statement rules out that interpretation.
Native PC release remains unconfirmed
Ball’s post closes the Xbox cloud-streaming route to PC, but it does not establish whether Rockstar will release a native PC version. That remains unconfirmed. The statement also does not confirm whether GTA VI will be available through Xbox Cloud Gaming on other supported devices. Phones, tablets, smart TVs, and Meta Quest headsets could be options if the game is made available there, but none has been confirmed.
Xbox Cloud Gaming’s monthly limits
Microsoft’s monthly cloud-play limits are set to begin in November. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have 15 streaming hours per month for $22.99, Premium subscribers will have 10 hours for $14.99, and Essential subscribers will have five hours for $9.99. Xbox Cloud Gaming previously had no monthly hour cap. These are service limits, not confirmed GTA VI streaming allowances, since the game’s cloud availability remains unsettled.
Microsoft also plans to introduce pay-as-you-go cloud gaming in November. Subscribers will be able to buy additional cloud time through the Xbox Store at regional prices, though Microsoft has not announced the price.
GTA VI is listed at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. At the Standard Edition price, buying the game and one month of Game Pass Ultimate would cost $102.98 before tax or accessories. If a 100-hour playthrough were streamed entirely within Ultimate’s 15-hour monthly allowance, it would take nearly seven months. The game plus seven Ultimate payments would total $240.92 before a controller or any additional streaming time.
