Hutuo, a war-torn new region in Where Winds Meet, will open on November 13, 2026, alongside the game’s first global anniversary update. PlayStation’s October 27 announcement sets the story at the Battle of Zhongdu Bridge, where northern invaders are crossing the border, frontline defenses are failing and old pacts have broken down.
Hutuo puts the idea of Xia, or chivalry, at the heart of its story. With displaced civilians behind the front lines, loyalty to a failing throne comes into conflict with standing beside sworn companions to protect the innocent. The stories move among a soldier defying brutal orders, survivors among the river reeds and ordinary people risking their lives to shelter refugees.
The region’s mud-and-steel warzone uses environmental storytelling and quests to show the conflict through different lives, rather than only through combat. Its central tension is what heroism means when the powers meant to protect people have failed.
On PS5 Pro, Hutuo will pair enhanced PSSR with upgraded ray-traced reflections for a stable 60 FPS. The PlayStation version will also use DualSense adaptive triggers and haptics for bow draws and blade clashes, with fewer frame hitches during effects-heavy battles. Asynchronous asset streaming is designed to shorten loads across fast-travel points, dungeons and cinematic transitions.
The anniversary update will also add the board-game modes Horse Racing Chess and Jianghu Tactics, along with rewards the developer describes as its most generous since launch. Dual Spears, a new martial art directed and choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping, will arrive in late November. It alternates between Light Spears offense and stance-breaking Heavy Spears, building Spear Stance for extended combo sequences.
A First Anniversary Special Broadcast is scheduled for November 2, 2026, with further developer insights and Hutuo gameplay reveals.
