Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War 4 has finally shown its face with a trailer debuting at Gamescom 2025, and it brings back the classic real-time strategy style that fans love. The trailer highlights several factions from the vast 40K universe, including Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Set in the grim darkness of the far future, where peace is a laughable concept, this new installment sticks to its roots. It won’t be a third-person shooter like Space Marine 2, but rather a strategy game where players command the Blood Ravens chapter of Space Marines. Alongside them, players will be able to take control of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Orks, and the Necrons, each bringing their own flavor to the battlefield.
The Blood Ravens sport their iconic red armor, quite different from the Ultramarines featured in other titles. The Adeptus Mechanicus are a interesting faction who worship the God Emperor as an avatar of the Omnissiah and have replaced much of their flesh with machinery. They’re the Imperium’s tech priests, obsessed with machines and invention. Then you have the Orks, those green, brutal brutes who always bring chaos and their signature “Waaaaah!” to any Warhammer game. Last but not least, the Necrons are ancient, robotic aliens who believe they’re the galaxy’s rightful rulers, preparing to wrest control from humanity to face off against threats like the Tyranids and Chaos.
Wondering what the gameplay might look like? Check out the official Gamescom trailer below and see the factions clash in all their glory:
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War 4 will stick to the real-time strategy formula, which is a relief to many who might have feared a shift towards shooters after Space Marine 2. But does anyone really want to see the Orks running around in third-person? I didn’t think so.
There’s no word yet on the release date or additional gameplay features, but with Gamescom unveiling this trailer, it’s safe to say the hype train is leaving the station. Will the new factions bring fresh tactics to the table or just more of the same? Guess they’re hoping it works.
What do you think about this return to form? Are you ready to command the Blood Ravens or smash heads as an Ork? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.
