War Thunder update 2.49.0.64 fixes countermeasure balance, clipping and HEAT shell bug

Small fixes land in War Thunder’s 2.49.0.64 update, addressing countermeasure loadouts, clipping exploits and a HEAT interaction bug.

War Thunder’s Update 2.49.0.64 has landed on Steam with a handful of quality-of-life fixes that matter more than their small list might suggest. The patch tweaks aircraft countermeasures, plugs a few clipping holes in locations, and corrects a strange HEAT interaction that lets some reversing tanks cheat their armor.

Patch Notes – 2.49.0.64

Aircraft

  • F-111F, Su-24M – the countermeasures filling has been adjusted so players now get an equal number of flares and chaff.
  • A bug that sometimes allowed players to fly through cliffs has been fixed. This could happen on the Rocky Pillars and African Island locations, for example.

Ground Vehicles

  • A bug that caused HEAT shells and their variants to ignore the armor of tanks that were reversing from the player who fired at them has been fixed.
  • Mark V, Beutepanzer IV – a bug that caused the tank to shake has been fixed.

Locations and Missions

  • Poland (all variants) – a bug where it was possible to drive inside some buildings when traveling at full speed has been fixed.

None of this is glamorous. You won’t see a new vehicle or an entire map here. But minor fixes like equalized countermeasure loads and corrected shell-armor interactions quietly make matches feel less like wrestling with the game and more like actual combat.
