World of Warcraft’s 12.0.0 update has reworked Silvermoon in ways that are easy to miss until you see side-by-side footage, and a new comparison by Reddit user IllidanS4 makes the differences impossible to ignore.
The first thing that hits is atmosphere – interiors feel darker and more foreboding, with the inn serving as a prime example. Beyond the lighting and textures, the removal of the fel crystals is the clearest visual change, stripping out a familiar source of glow and color. The old Ruins of Silvermoon area has been replaced by the Gardens of Remembrance, which include the Horde-like hedge crest seen in early previews. The most notable structural swap puts the Sanctum of Light where the Dead Scar used to be, a change that shifts both the skyline and how players will move through the zone.
There is also the matter of the split between Horde and common areas, a change that has drawn attention for how it alters the citys flow and player interaction. The video is handy because it lets viewers compare the original layout and lighting to the 12.0.0 iteration in real time. Watch the comparison below to see the differences for yourself.
