The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered Ties for 2026’s Top Metacritic Score

Nine PC reviews give The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered a 94 Metascore, tying Sektori and exceeding the original game's 92.

Correction, September 29, 2026: An earlier version said The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered sat ahead of Sektori on Metacritic’s 2026 chart. A score snapshot based on nine PC reviews shows both games at 94 and tied for the year’s highest score, so we have updated the article.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered shares the top position on Metacritic’s 2026 game chart with a 94 Metascore. Its PC score is based on nine reviews, making it a strong opening snapshot that may still change as additional critics submit ratings.

How the remaster compares

A 94 currently places the remaster ahead of several major 2026 releases, including Resident Evil Requiem, Pokémon Pokopia, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Sektori holds the same score, while Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and Big Walk follow with 91 each.

How the scores compare across editions

The original 2015 release holds a 92 Metascore from 79 reviews. The Complete Edition sits at 85 from 65 reviews, although its PS5 and Xbox Series X versions averaged 94. Those platform scores were based on fewer reviews and did not change the Complete Edition’s overall number.

The remaster’s 94 therefore exceeds the original game’s score and matches the highest score reached by the current-generation editions. A 94 is not enough to break into Metacritic’s top 50 games of all time, where every entry currently has at least a 95. The remaster sits in 63rd place, ahead of the 3DS remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Chrono Cross, while remaining just behind Metroid Prime Remastered and Batman: Arkham City.

The remaster became available on September 29, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Players can buy it as a standalone product or claim it as a free upgrade for existing owners.

Beyond its visual work, the update revises combat and traversal, adds new sound effects for certain powers, rebuilds the skill tree, and introduces transmogrification. Both previous expansions are included as well, giving the remaster a broader scope than a simple graphics pass.

Nintendo Switch 2 players receive touchscreen support for dialogue selection, inventory management, and Gwent. Xbox Series X/S owners also gain Play Anywhere support, which provides access to the PC version at no extra cost when they buy or update the Xbox version.
