Patch Notes

The Outlast Trials’ Sept. 11 Hotfix Removes Permanent Damage and No Revive

The Chemical Leak patch also fixes the Kress Twins document, console shuttle audio, menu lockups, and AZERTY keyboard bindings.

The Outlast Trials has released its Sept. 11 Chemical Leak hotfix, removing the Permanent Damage and No Revive modifiers from Escalation. Red Barrels plans to revisit both modifiers later as part of a broader rebalance of Escalation’s flow and difficulty curve.

The earlier Chemical Leak update applied permanent damage and removed Revives from Trial #21 onward. The new hotfix removes those rules from Escalation while also addressing several smaller problems. Red Barrels detailed the changes in its Steam announcement.

The Kress Twins document can no longer be acquired outside the Change the Program MK-Challenge. Console players should now hear audio during shuttle videos, while a problem that could leave players stuck on the main menu or loading screen has also been fixed. AZERTY keyboard input bindings have been corrected as well.

The Outlast Trials Chemical Leak Hotfix Patch Notes

Escalation loses its two current difficulty modifiers, while the remaining fixes cover event progression, console audio, startup reliability, and keyboard input.

  • Escalation: Removed Permanent Damage and No Revive from Escalation. We plan to revisit these modifiers later as part of a broader rebalance of the Escalation flow and difficulty curve.
  • Fixed an issue where the Kress Twins document could be acquired outside of the Change the Program MK-Challenge.
  • Fixed an issue where audio was missing from shuttle videos during shuttle sequences on console.
  • Fixed and issue where it was possible to get stuck in the main menu/loading screen.
  • Fixed input binding for players using AZERTY keyboards.

Removing Permanent Damage and No Revive should make higher Escalation runs less punishing for now, but the planned rebalance could change the mode again later.
