THE FINALS’ Season 12 Will Let Scotty Call Players by Name
Dynamic Commentary will arrive in beta on October 20, 2026, with a limited initial set of callouts and an Anonymous mode option for players who do not want their names spoken.

THE FINALS will add Dynamic Commentary in Season 12, giving announcer Scotty the ability to work a contestant’s username into callouts during significant moments. The feature arrives in beta when the season begins on October 20, 2026.

A headshot, for example, could prompt Scotty to name the player instead of delivering generic praise. Embark will start with a short list of triggers, allowing the team to curate and tune the lines. Audio Director Carl Strandberg says limiting those situations will help preserve Scotty’s familiar delivery.
THE FINALS already uses AI text-to-speech for announcer commentary, with dialogue built from recordings by paid actors. Season 12 extends that system to contestant usernames. Players who do not want their names read aloud can switch to Anonymous mode.
The wider season update will add the Mimic Device and Translocator, along with Solo Showdown, a 12-player tournament with three randomly selected rounds drawn from eight mini-modes. Improved footsteps are intended to make enemy movement easier to track. Structures will bend, sag, and collapse more naturally, while smoke will react to forces in the Arena as part of the arena and destruction overhaul.
