The EWC 2026 CS2 Final Will Move Into Paris’ Accor Arena

The August 23 decider will follow a $2 million, 32-team Counter-Strike 2 tournament at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.

The 2026 Esports World Cup’s Counter-Strike 2 grand final will take place at Paris’ Accor Arena on August 23. The venue change gives Championship Sunday a much larger setting after tickets for the final at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles sold out.

The Esports World Cup announced the move through its official X post, writing, “You sold it out so we made it bigger.” The rest of the CS2 event will remain at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles before the tournament heads to Accor Arena for its last day.

Depending on its configuration, Accor Arena can accommodate between 15,000 and 20,300 fans, providing a considerably larger setting than the event’s original venue. Tickets for the Accor Arena final became available after the announcement through the official ticketing page.

The tournament was originally hosted in Riyadh, but organizers moved the 2026 event to Paris in May because of the Iran war. The expanded venue will now host the final match of a $2,000,000 CS2 competition featuring 32 teams.

What to expect from the CS2 tournament

Four teams will earn their places through the event’s open LAN qualifier. Once the full field is set, 16 teams will advance to the playoffs, with the championship match scheduled for August 23 at Accor Arena.

The Counter-Strike 2 final will share the closing day with the presentation of the Esports World Cup 2026 Club Championship, which will also take place at Accor Arena on August 23.

The CS2 competition is part of the broader Esports World Cup club championship. After four weeks of competition, Natus Vincere currently leads the club rankings. The team at the top when the season ends will receive a $7,000,000 payout, while Vitality sits third and Falcons holds sixth.

Accor Arena also carries some Counter-Strike history for the Paris event. Vitality won its first Major at the venue in 2023, and the building will now host another major CS2 conclusion on August 23.

Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed and published by Valve. Released in September 2023, it is the fifth main entry in the Counter-Strike series and serves as a direct replacement for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam. Two teams, Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists, compete in objective-based rounds across modes such as bomb defusal and hostage rescue. Built on the Source 2 engine, the game introduced volumetric smoke physics, revised weapon handling, and a new sub-tick server architecture. It inherited all cosmetic items from its predecessor and features both a map-specific Competitive mode and a numerically ranked Premier mode.
