SteamOS 3.8.25 Beta Adds Initial Support for MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ and More
Ayaneo Pocket S2, Konkr Fit, and OneXPlayer Apex are also named in Valve's non-Valve device updates, while Steam Machine receives new firmware.
Valve has expanded SteamOS controller support in the 3.8.25 Beta, adding what its official update notes call “initial gamepad support” for several handhelds made by other manufacturers. The list includes the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, along with two Ayaneo devices.
The two Ayaneo entries are the Ayaneo Pocket S2 and Konkr Fit. The Pocket S2 is an Android-first handheld powered by a Snapdragon chip and launched in June 2025. The Konkr Fit is a Windows handheld from one of Ayaneo’s sub-brands.
Konkr’s device comes with either an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 or Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU. It also uses TMR joysticks and Hall effect triggers, giving SteamOS another set of controller designs to account for as Valve works through support for newer hardware.
The beta notes also mention updated gamepad support for the OneXPlayer Apex. Valve’s wording is deliberately limited: “initial” support points to ongoing work on the controls rather than a claim that every SteamOS feature is ready on each handheld.
These changes fit into Valve’s broader effort to bring SteamOS to devices beyond its own hardware, following earlier work on non-Valve handheld support. The same beta update also includes new Steam Machine firmware, with fixes for issues such as a rare case where CPU performance could remain reduced after the system woke from sleep until it was rebooted.

The handheld changes focus on controller input, while the Steam Machine firmware addresses a wake-from-sleep performance problem. Valve’s update notes call out the following device-related changes:

- Steam Machine firmware: Fixes include a rare issue that could leave CPU performance degraded after waking from sleep until reboot.
