Star Wars Zero Company’s 30-40 Hour Campaign Won’t Chase Endless Replayability

Bit Reactor says the strategy game will follow a linear story, launch without New Game+, and arrive on August 27, 2026.

Star Wars Zero Company is going to be a focused strategy game rather than another sprawling RPG that asks players to settle in for dozens upon dozens of hours. Bit Reactor estimates that the average player will need around 30 to 40 hours to finish the main story campaign.

That estimate will vary based on difficulty and experience with the strategy genre. Lead producer Caydence Funk shared the figure during a Discord Q&A hosted through Steam.

The campaign will follow a linear structure from beginning to end. Players should not expect branching story paths or romance options between members of the squad, which means the major narrative beats will remain consistent across a playthrough.

No New Game+ at launch

Bit Reactor also confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company will not include a New Game+ mode. Subsequent playthroughs will unlock some customization options, but the game will not offer a second campaign with carried-over progress and extra difficulty systems.

That approach may disappoint players who want a reason to immediately revisit the story, but it also keeps the campaign’s scope clear. The tactical decisions made during missions can still give each run its own flavor, even when the overall narrative follows the same route.

The structure recalls XCOM 2, which also presented a linear campaign while giving players plenty of room to make tactical choices. Its War of the Chosen expansion added more variety through new factions, but Zero Company appears to be taking a more contained route from the start.

It also stands apart from games such as Marvel’s Midnight Suns, where relationship-building and optional activities occupied a large part of the experience. Zero Company is putting more of its attention on its tactical campaign and the Star Wars setting.

Star Wars Zero Company is scheduled to launch on August 27, 2026. That gives players a 30-40 hour campaign to look forward to without requiring a second job, a spreadsheet, or a heroic amount of free time.
