STAR WARS: The Old Republic Phase 6 PTS Adds Ryloth, Gear Preview, and Class Updates

Players can try Dynamic Encounters on the Twi'lek homeworld as Game Update 8.0's gearing system and class changes enter testing.

Phase 6 of Game Update 8.0 is now available on the Public Test Server, bringing Ryloth, Dynamic Encounters, a first look at gearing, and further class changes into testing, as confirmed in the Steam announcement.

Players can explore the Twi’lek homeworld through new Dynamic Encounters, including feeding Banthas, searching for relics, and fighting Hutt forces. Art, environments, and some other assets are still unfinished on the test server.

The new gearing system upgrades equipment through a dedicated interface. Augments, Color Crystals, and/or Tunings carry over to the next upgrade, while tertiary stats can be changed at certain item ratings. Gear is Bind on Pickup, and catch-up vendors are intended to help alternate characters gear up faster. The gearing breakdown and feedback thread has more detail.

Further balance changes cover all classes. Players can find the full changelist in the class-balance thread.

Ryloth and a new gearing system were already part of Game Update 8.0’s broader plan. Class testing has also advanced through earlier PTS phases. Phase 5 brought Mercenary and Commando changes alongside Venture: Expert and level-85 PvP, as detailed in the previous phase’s additions.
