Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 now has an official Steam Workshop, giving players a dedicated place to access and create mods. The announcement is available in the game’s Steam news post.
Mods come with a few firm limits. Players using them will be removed from public matchmaking and placed in a private lobby instead. Friends can join through a direct invitation or a session code, while a watermark appears in the top-right corner during modded play.
Progression from these sessions will also remain separate from progression in the official game. That keeps modded play isolated from standard online progression and matchmaking.
What Mod Creators Need to Know
Anyone planning to build a mod must follow the required conditions and restrictions. The announcement points creators to the modding legal notice and says a complete guide is available after those guidelines have been reviewed.
Mods to Watch
The Workshop’s early selection already covers several different approaches to modded play. In a roundup of the Workshop’s initial projects, PCGamesN highlighted Astartes Overhaul for its added weapons, custom classes, upgrades, and enemies.
Deluge increases both enemy and squad numbers for larger, more chaotic battles, while Primarch Power Fantasy boosts enemy numbers alongside weapon, ability, and armor power. Active AI focuses on making computer-controlled units behave more dynamically.
Other projects mentioned in the roundup include Testing Menu for experimenting with different setups, Noclip for a more flexible photo mode, and Blood for players seeking extra gore.
What Came With the Confrontation Update
Steam Workshop support arrived alongside the Confrontation update. The broader update also added the Thousand Sons Terminus enemy, more Heroic weapons and armor, and two new PvP maps. It included the final pair of Season 2 cosmetics for the Salamanders and the Raptors as well.
The Workshop gives Space Marine 2 players a new way to experiment, but the private-lobby requirement means mods will remain separate from public sessions. That distinction should be clear before starting a modded game.
