Skyrim Revoiced is a new fan mod that replaces voices for a swath of NPCs in The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim Special Edition with recordings by professional voice actors. The first public release covers 48 NPCs across Skyrim and implements 8 new voice types for more than 5,000 lines of vanilla and modded dialogue.
The mod was built with compatibility in mind. Lines added by several popular dialogue mods have been recorded so the new voices carry over when those mods are installed. Examples called out by the creator include Improved Innkeepers, Hunters Not Bandits, and Misc Dialogue Edits. The project is positioned as long-term, with the stated aim of giving every race and gender more unique voices. The modder ‘spdude’ hired paid actors to record the lines which raises production costs and means future releases do not have a public ETA.
Players can download the mod from the Skyrim Revoiced page on Nexus Mods to try it out. The release includes both vanilla lines and lines intended to match popular third party content so voice coverage follows players who use large mod lists. Using real actors is a different route from recent discussions about synthetic voices and tools.
