SCUM has received the official Ver.1.1.0 update on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 builds arriving soon. The patch focuses on accessibility, control, polish, and quality-of-life improvements across the board. The headline addition is a new Explorer Mode that lowers combat and traversal difficulty so players can concentrate on the world and story. The previous default difficulty will now be labeled Veteran Mode for those who want the original, more challenging experience.
Main changes include
- Mode switching can be done any time at save data selection on the title screen or from the Miku Sol save and warp menu
- Explorer Mode adjustments such as higher Sword Fighter and GAIA attack power, reduced incoming damage, and nullified contact damage that previously punished unintentional collisions
- Reduced energy consumption and faster recovery for several resources, including ESP and GAIA energy, with automatic GAIA recovery while in Sword Fighter phase
- New Tenacity Boost option that increases attack power over repeated deaths and can be toggled and tuned in the Miku Sol menu
- Athletic recovery support where repeatedly failing a tricky platform section triggers a warp option to skip that challenge
Several Miku Sol and MAZE changes aim to smooth progression. Miku Sol and simple save points have been increased and some simple points upgraded to warp-capable stations. MAZE rewards and score requirements were lowered, maximum bonus fruit gains were raised, and certain MAZE failures now offer a skip option. Boss encounters in MAZE now support save and resume for retries after quitting and restarting the game.
Controls get polish too. Mini PUCK gains in-menu tutorials, a dedicated neutral jump button that reduces accidental inputs, diagonal forward-up stick mapping for more intuitive jumps, and improved mid-air control after jumping.
The update also bundles platform-specific bug fixes. The Switch build fixes a crash that could happen during the staff roll. The Steam build patches an issue where ejection speed from a booster slowed at high refresh rates. Other fixes address ESP recovery and menu access after dying under certain conditions, plus various minor issues.
Players are encouraged to download and apply Ver.1.1.0 to get the new modes and fixes. The full post with the official patch notes is available in the official Steam update post for Ver.1.1.0.
