SCUM Players Turn the Island Into a Hunting Ground in New Community Showcase

The showcase features wildlife encounters, inventive meals, memorial tombstones, community builds, and two videos from the Island.

SCUM is celebrating the return of free-roaming wildlife with a community showcase full of close calls, improvised meals, creative builds, and some wonderfully strange survival moments. The official SCUM Community Showcase was published on July 14, 2026.

The return of animals has changed the rhythm of life on the Island. Players are now spotting bears, boars, deer, horses, and other wildlife during routine trips, turning roads and forests into places where a quick supply run can become a hunt, a chase, or a very bad idea.

First Encounters

The first part of the showcase focuses on unexpected meetings with the Island’s animals. One player found themselves face-to-face with a bear, while other submissions showed a deer appearing overhead, a boar being chased down a road, and a horse joining a vehicle adventure.

A separate submission captured a quiet moment by the water, where a player encountered a rabbit. It is a reminder that not every wildlife encounter has to end with a rifle, although the Island rarely promises that things will stay peaceful for long.

Several of the featured moments came from the community’s first encounter submissions, including the bear encounter and a few of the showcase’s more chaotic animal sightings.

Hunters of the Month

The hunting section puts the spotlight on patience, aim, and a willingness to get close to animals that can easily turn the tables. Community screenshots show successful deer and boar hunts, along with a bear takedown that required considerably more courage than a normal trip through the woods.

The showcase also includes examples of players going far beyond a single meal. One submission displayed a large haul of meat, with the game’s recently introduced smokers offering a practical way to preserve the results of a very ambitious hunt. Other entries focused on unusual trophies and the small stories that form around them.

The featured hunting entries are collected through community hunting submissions, including a stealthy approach and a carefully placed shot.

Island Cooking Gets Creative

Survival meals received their own showcase section. Players turned basic ingredients into steaks, pasta, sushi, and other improvised dishes. Some creations looked surprisingly appetizing, while others had the unmistakable charm of food prepared under pressure with whatever happened to be nearby.

One submission even treated footwear as part of the cooking setup, while another presented a homemade sushi dish. The results are not always elegant, but they fit SCUM’s rough-and-ready approach to survival.

The cooking examples include a particularly unconventional camp meal and several dishes made from the supplies players managed to find on the Island.

Remembering Those No Longer With Us

The showcase also looks at the new tombstone feature, which players have used to leave memorials across the Island. Some markers honor characters and lost companions, while others preserve the names and stories that emerged during a difficult run.

Alongside the screenshots, the showcase features a castle built by Evatox. The large residence includes multiple rooms, a kitchen, a fireplace, detailed decoration, and an open yard with a broad view of the surrounding area.

Two videos round out the collection. The first presents the castle build, while the second follows Casual Wardog as they go through the June update and try its Anniversary Quest.

The showcase closes with a hint that rare trophy-fish wall mounts could appear in a future community feature. Until then, the Island has plenty of wildlife, food experiments, memorials, and questionable vehicle decisions to keep its prisoners busy.

Which community moment deserves a spot in the next showcase? Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow along on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
