SCUM’s holiday update is now on the live build, and the developer has opened a Public Test Environment so players can try a major loot, vehicle parts, and trader systems shakeup. Getting into the PTE is simple, as players can do it by right-clicking SCUM in their Steam library, open Properties, then select the PTE branch under Betas and let the build download. The post includes screenshots of the properties and beta-selection screens to walk you through the steps.
Once you’re on the PTE, there are official test servers live across regions. The developer lists these servers and their ports for direct connection:
- SCUM Server Official PTE #1 – Europe 5.9.115.49:7122
- SCUM Server Official PTE #2 – Europe 5.9.115.49:7142
- SCUM Server Official PTE #1 – Asia 15.235.181.208:7082
- SCUM Server Official PTE #1 – US East 79.127.223.71:7042
- SCUM Server Official PTE #2 – US East 79.127.219.101:7082
- SCUM Server Official PTE #1 – US Central 79.127.244.247:7042
- SCUM Server Official PTE #1 – Canada 51.222.255.64:7042
- SCUM Server Official PTE #1 – Australia 51.161.198.166:7082
The developer says more servers may be added depending on demand.
Loot
The PTE includes a broad redistribution of the loot table so items match POI style and biome. General loot like clothes and food has been increased to compensate for the reduced spawner counts from the 1.0 map rework. Clothing spawns have been zoned so coastal areas yield lighter garments while colder zones yield warmer gear; the post includes a map legend image that shows the red, green, and blue climate bands.

Special loot has been split by POI into categories aimed at reducing weapon and ammo clutter and matching military clothing to the biome. The post lists the categorized loot exactly so testers know what to expect in each POI:

POI specialization is explicit: hunting cabins favor hunting gear, prisons are stacked with police equipment, and secret bunkers now always contain worthwhile gear rather than relying on RNG; specifically the post says secret bunkers are no longer RNG and keycard rewards are guaranteed to be valuable. Locked lockers now have a 100% chance to yield an item so screwdriver attempts will not come up empty.
Vehicle parts
The PTE changes where vehicle parts spawn so players are more likely to find the specific parts they need instead of random components. The junkyard remains the universal parts hub but other POIs are specialized:
- Rager parts spawn in the largest POIs: Samobor, Novigrad, and Rogoznica
- WolfsWagen/Laika parts spawn in garages across the map
- Tractors parts spawn in barns
- Motorbike parts spawn in barns and the motorcycle track
- Cruiser parts spawn at gas stations and airfields
- Quad parts spawn at the moto track and construction sites
The team has also increased the number of vehicles that spawn in a drivable state.
Traders
Traders start with empty inventories until players sell items to them, so tester feedback is needed to balance how fast trader stock fills and what items should be available from the outset. If you want to leave feedback the developer points testers to the official Discord where new channels have been created for PTE reports.
If you try the PTE, jump onto the servers, and leave feedback in Discord so the developer can tune loot, vehicles, and traders; drop a comment below and follow us on X, Bluesky, and YouTube to keep up with test notes and changes.
