Rockstar May Keep GTA VI’s Online Plans Quiet for a While
Take-Two says it will continue supporting GTA Online, while a remark attributed to Jason Schreier says Rockstar is not planning to discuss GTA VI's online plans soon.
Rockstar may keep Grand Theft Auto VI’s online plans quiet for a while. A remark attributed to Jason Schreier says Rockstar Games is not planning to discuss GTA Online in connection with the sequel “anytime soon.”
The remark concerns timing rather than the shape of the eventual online component. It does not reveal what GTA Online will include in relation to the sequel or when Rockstar could discuss those plans publicly. With no date or event attached to the next discussion, the claim should not be read as confirmation of the feature’s final scope.
The remark appears at approximately 5:50 in the linked video.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said during the company’s first-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings call that GTA Online’s update pace has remained generally stable and that Take-Two continues to devote resources to the game. He added that the publisher expects to support the multiplayer title going forward. Those comments point to continued support for the existing service, but do not reveal whether or when Rockstar will discuss a new online experience for GTA VI.
For PC players, GTA Online will remain the main Grand Theft Auto multiplayer option through 2026, since GTA VI is not scheduled to arrive on PC during that year.
Rockstar Games is already preparing for Grand Theft Auto VI’s next public presentation. The game currently has a November 19, 2026 release target, while an extended look scheduled for August 27 has also been announced. Neither date provides a confirmed window for GTA Online details.
Until Rockstar addresses the subject directly, the remark is best read as a timing update rather than a preview of the feature itself.
GTA VI’s online plans remain one of Rockstar’s unanswered topics. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow along on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
