Capcom continues to assert its dominance. As the creator of several monumental franchises, including Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, Capcom has over 100 titles that have sold more than one million units. A recent update to Capcom’s Platinum Titles list showcases the stellar sales performance of their games.
Among the highlights, the 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake is leading the pack, with a whopping 12.6 million units sold, making it the highest-selling single Resident Evil release. With the sale of 700,000 units in Q1 (April-June) of FY 23/24 alone, the title has outpaced Resident Evil 7, which now stands at 12.4 million units sold.
Nonetheless, the combined sales of Resident Evil 5, including the Gold Edition, remain the franchise’s pinnacle, boasting 13.9 million units in total. The recent addition to the series, Resident Evil Village, has also made an impressive run, hitting 8.3 million units, while the 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake stands at 7.6 million units sold. Rounding out the franchise’s success, the recently launched Resident Evil 4 remake has already sold over 5 million units.
Turning our attention to the Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter: World, including its Iceborne Master Edition, tops the chart with a colossal 22.7 million units sold. Its sequel, Monster Hunter Rise, follows closely, achieving a solid 13.2 million units in sales. Finally, Street Fighter V rounds up Capcom’s top ten with 7.3 million units sold.
