PlayStation Network Problems Put FC 26’s World Championship on Hold

The outage stopped competitors from practicing with their online Ultimate Team squads before the tournament's final League Stage day.

The PlayStation Network outage has delayed Day 3 of the EA Sports FC 26 FC Pro World Championship, leaving the tournament’s final League Stage day without a confirmed restart time.

The event, now named the Diogo Jota FC Pro World Championship, is being held as part of the Esports World Cup and features a prize pool of more than $1 million. The outage prevented competitors from accessing the online services they need to practice with their professional squads before returning to the stage.

FC Pro World Championship Schedule Disrupted

EA Sports FC 26 can still be played locally during the outage, but professional competition relies on Ultimate Team. That mode requires an online connection, which means players cannot use their competitive squads while PlayStation Network services remain unavailable.

Organizers said Day 3 was postponed so players would have enough time to warm up and prepare once services return. The Esports Foundation also said the tournament would be live soon, though it had not provided a new start time by the time of publication.

The service interruption had lasted more than three hours at that point, and Sony had not yet commented on the cause or expected resolution. The outage affected thousands of players worldwide, including users who could not log in or access their digital games.

July 24 was scheduled to conclude the League Stage, reducing the field from 36 players to 24 for the Playoffs. Levy ‘levyfinn’ Rieck and Matías ‘Bonanno’ Bonanno were leading the standings after winning all four of their matches.

The eight highest-ranked players will advance directly to the Round of 16 and secure at least $40,000 in prize money. The championship is scheduled to finish on Sunday, July 26, but the delayed matches have put that timetable under pressure.
