PlayStation 5 won’t support native 1440p resolution

It is rather amusing to hear that the PS5 will not support a 1440p resolution, which is actually one of the best gaming resolutions that fit PlayStation users with a PC setup. The transition to 1440p is growing much faster than before, and it is considered for the best all-around resolution with today’s powerful hardware. Sadly, those who own a 1440p monitor won’t have the full benefit.

This was confirmed to IGN Italy that Sony’s PS5 wouldn’t support native 1440p resolution. Even if it sounds irrelevant for most of the PlayStation 5 users, those with 1440p monitors find that extremely mind-boggling. Instead, the PS5 will tackle this differently, similar to the PS4 Pro.

The new PS5 will support the scaling, which means playing on 1440p will still be possible, but it won’t be in its native resolution. The difference between that is the quality of the visuals, which roughly said will look stretched. All of that to fit the 1440p resolution. This won’t make the picture look as crisp as it should, and that’s somewhat sad.

On the other side, owners of 4K and 8K TVs won’t have any issues with the native resolution, and they will get the best experience playing on the PS5.
