PEAK’s Final Biome Update Will Arrive August 11 With GLOOM and THE CITADEL
The update will bring GLOOM and THE CITADEL into the rotation while CALDERA and THE KILN cycle out.

PEAK’s final major update is scheduled to arrive on August 11. The update will add two new variant biomes, GLOOM and THE CITADEL, to the game’s rotation. The team shared the news in a new Steam announcement.
The new biomes will take the place of CALDERA and THE KILN in the rotation. That means the environments available during future climbs will change once the update goes live.
GLOOM and THE CITADEL join the rotation
The announcement describes the update as PEAK’s final ascent and confirms that the two new biomes are the main additions revealed so far. No further gameplay details were provided in the announcement, so the exact challenges waiting inside GLOOM and THE CITADEL remain under wraps.
Fake biome names hid the real destinations
Keeping the new areas secret was difficult because dataminers can inspect game files before content officially arrives. Rather than spend months trying to make the files completely leak-proof, Aggro Crab placed the genuine biome names alongside seven fake entries.
Some decoys sounded believable, including Grasslands and Temple. Others were much stranger: Skyblock, Hell, Heaven, and Mars also appeared as possible destinations. Wisconsin and Void showed up too, although they may have been codenames for the real biomes.
Paige Wilson walked through the file setup in a developer video.
Once the update arrives, PEAK’s planned biome content will be in place, allowing the developers to turn their attention to sorting out the game’s console ports.
A video accompanies the announcement, giving players another look at the update ahead of its August 11 release.
