Peak 1.7 Update Brings Chain Launcher Limits and New Languages

Peak's July 11 update adds languages, tweaks equipment, and introduces fun new features.

The Peak 1.7 update has arrived, bringing a mix of new languages, gameplay adjustments, and some playful additions. If you’ve been climbing through Peak, these changes might shift how you approach the game a bit, and you might even get to bonk your friends with coconuts now.

Peak, developed by Aggro Crab and Landfall Interactive, has been steadily increasing in popularity, competing with some of the standout indie titles expected in 2025. This update continues to improve the experience with both quality of life improvements and balance tweaks.

Key Highlights of the 1.7 Update

One of the big additions is the expansion of available languages, making the game more accessible internationally. You can now select from English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain and LATAM), Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

A fun feature has been added where you can throw whole coconuts to bonk scouts. It’s a bit of lighthearted mischief that adds some extra interaction without disrupting the core gameplay too much.

On the balance side, chain launchers have been adjusted so they can’t be fired too far above or below the horizon line. This change is meant to stop exploits where players would shoot directly upward to travel unusually long distances. Rope shooters now shoot 50% more rope, and some physics behaviors for anti-rope equipment have been altered, which might affect how you plan your traversal.

Full Patch Notes for Peak 1.7 Update

Localization

  • Translations are in! The game is now available in:
  • English
  • French
  • Italian
  • German
  • Spanish (Spain)
  • Spanish (LATAM)
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Ukrainian
  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Japanese
  • Korean

Features

  • Whole coconuts will now bonk scouts when thrown at them. The idea of every item bonking was considered, but might have made the game frustrating.
  • Re-added the ability to throw items at fruits and beehives to knock them down. This was unintentionally removed but is now back.

Balance Changes

  • Bugle of Friendship will no longer appear in Solo Play.
  • Rope Spool now weighs 1 instead of 0. Anti-Rope Spool and Anti-Rope Shooter now weigh -1.
  • Chain Launchers can no longer be fired above or below a certain angle past the horizon to prevent unintended long-distance shots.
  • Rope Shooters and Anti-Rope Shooters shoot 50% more rope.
  • Anti-Rope Spool and Anti-Rope Shooter physics behave differently when released.
  • Ticks are easier to remove in Solo Play.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where backpacks became non-interactable.
  • Fixed campfire lighting problem when a friend reconnects.
  • Potential fix for explosive spores crashing the game.
  • Fixed temporary item slot weight calculation bug.
  • Guidebook sound effects now spatialized correctly.
  • Players now fall off pitons when passed out, fixing teleporting issues on revival.
  • Potential fixes for Chain Shooters spawning empty and player screens going black.
