Fortnite Lets You Transform Into James Gunn’s Superman During Matches

Fortnite has added a new twist to its usual crossover events with the arrival of James Gunn’s Superman, not just as a skin but as a transformable character mid-match. This update lets players grab a special item and turn into the Man of Steel, gaining his iconic powers right in the heat of battle.

Known for its lineup of big-name collaborations, Fortnite continues this tradition in Chapter 6 Season 3 by introducing several DC characters, with Clark Kent finally joining the fray. The partnership ties into James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, giving players a chance to embody the hero during matches, not just look like him.

To transform, players need to find the Superman’s Call crystal. This crystal randomly spawns once per match, whether in regular or Zero Build modes, and its location is revealed on the map for everyone in the lobby. Whoever picks it up first gets rifted away and returns as Superman, complete with David Corenswet’s likeness and the classic suit.

Once transformed, you gain access to Superman’s powers like flying quickly across the map, using heat vision to burn through structures, and super strength to crush enemies. But don’t get cocky, you’re not invincible. Taking damage chips away at your health, and when it runs out, you revert to your original character and lose the powers.

The crystal’s single spawn per match means only one player can become Superman each round, so grabbing it early is crucial if you want to unleash some Kryptonian justice.

The update also introduces the Fortress of Solitude as a new landmark, effective July 15. Players can visit it to interact with Superman and buy certain services using Bars, adding another layer to the in-game experience tied to the movie’s release.
