Path of Exile 3.30 will give its endgame a major overhaul
Grinding Gear Games plans to revisit league mechanics, add more interactions between them, and make loot feel less predictable.

Grinding Gear Games is planning a major endgame overhaul for Path of Exile 3.30, with the update aimed at player concerns about repetitive activities and loot that feels too predictable. The patch is still roughly four months away, but the studio has already outlined some of its plans.
Loot has become a major point of frustration during the current league. Many players feel that too many rewards come from chests instead of monsters, while activities offer few ways to raise the difficulty in exchange for better items. That can make the outcome feel decided before an encounter is even finished.
GGG is working on smaller fixes for the immediate problems, but the larger answer will come with patch 3.30. In a recent interview with streamer Zizaran, developer Christopher “Octavian” Laferriere said players should expect an “extreme shakeup of the endgame” when the update arrives.
“3.30 will have a huge emphasis on endgame shakeup,” Laferriere said. “We plan to get to as many existing league mechanics as possible and give them all something new, something interesting, something different from before, because one of the problems that we see is that the endgame has just gotten stale.”
Path of Exile has accumulated a large collection of league mechanics over more than a decade. For 3.30, GGG wants those systems to interact with one another more often instead of functioning as isolated activities. The studio is also reconsidering which items should remain exclusive to a particular mechanic and which should be able to appear through general gameplay.
That approach could make random loot feel less predetermined. The sequel already offers a model for more unexpected rewards, and GGG plans to test similar ideas in the original game. The loot problem is not new for the studio either. Earlier plans for the 3.28 league also focused on making monster drops feel more worthwhile through its map system, as discussed in GGG’s plans for ground loot.
The size of the update may also affect how many smaller features make it in. Laferriere said the scope of 3.30 could mean that additions such as new transfigured skill gems will be limited. For now, Grinding Gear Games has not provided a complete list of changes or a more specific release date.
