The quirky world of Palworld, a game that has already taken bold strides in breaking conventions, is taking another unexpected turn. Developer Pocketpair has revisited what was initially a 2024 April Fool’s Day joke, moving towards a more profound concept with Palworld: More Than Just Pals, which could allow players to engage with their pals romantically.
This latest update introduces the possibility of dating within this offbeat realm, where pals, typically armed and dangerous, can now be courted instead. Even if this development stems from the original jest, it’s clear that significant effort has been poured into bringing it to life. The More Than Just Pals Steam page features multiple screenshots and an informative breakdown of characters available for pursuit. Among these options are primarily pals but also include one adult character, Nurse Saya, with whom players can flirt. The official announcement trailer showcases many of these characters.
The newly released second trailer keeps the playful tone as Nurse Saya and other pals seem eager to catch the player’s attention.

Nurse Saya and her companions practically throw herself at your character in this teaser. It seems like there’s more than just friendship brewing in Palworld!
Pocketpair’s social media also announced a contest featuring a Lovander body pillow. Lovander is described as “a senior who makes a love approach to new students every year,” calling her advances ‘hunting.’
The communication director at Pocketpair, John “Bucky” Buckley, insists that this endeavor is legitimate. Yet skepticism remains alive; some still consider it an elaborate prank around April Fool’s Day. Nevertheless, there appears to be potential interest from gamers looking for something different.
Bucky hinted at future expansions despite ongoing legal battles with Nintendo; he mentioned that Palworld would make its way to Switch 2 if the hardware meets requirements. Earlier updates also brought major changes, just this month, new cross-play features and photo mode were added.
