P-Studio Producer Says Persona 1 and 2 Remakes Should Happen

Persona 1 and Persona 2 could eventually receive modern remakes, according to Wada Kazuhisa, the producer leading Persona 4 Revival. Although Wada stopped short of confirming active plans, he made it clear that he personally believes the first two games should return. The games in question are Revelations: Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Persona 3 Reload is already available, Persona 4 Revival is due in early 2027, and Persona 5 has received multiple modern versions. That leaves the first two entries as the older parts of the series that have not yet received the same treatment.

Wada says the first two Persona games should return

During a GamerBraves interview about Persona 4 Revival, Wada discussed the work involved in rebuilding Inaba in 3D, along with new cutscenes, animated sequences, visual upgrades, quality-of-life changes, and combat improvements. He said the remake would keep the original story and characters intact.

When asked whether P-Studio could next turn its attention to Persona 1 and 2 or focus on Persona 6, Wada said he could not provide a firm answer. His personal view was much clearer:

At this point, I can’t say for sure, but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it.

Wada has expressed interest in remaking the older Persona games before, but previously said the work was not part of his schedule. His latest comments still do not amount to an announcement, though they give fans a direct look at how the producer views the future of the series.

The timing also puts the idea alongside a busy period for the franchise. Persona 6 is part of Sega’s broader plans for Persona’s 30th anniversary, while Persona 4 Revival is preparing to bring another classic entry into the current era.

Persona 1 and 2 would require a different remake approach

Remaking the first two games would not simply mean rebuilding another title in the style of Persona 3 Reload or Persona 4 Revival. Both games differ heavily from the formula that became familiar through the later entries. These early games also remain closer in style to early Shin Megami Tensei releases than to the modern Persona formula, which became more established with Persona 3. P-Studio would need to decide how much of their original design to preserve.

A faithful update could keep the games closer to their roots, while larger changes might make them easier for newer audiences to play. Either direction could frustrate part of the fanbase, which is likely why the question carries more weight than a straightforward visual upgrade.

For now, Persona 1 and 2 remakes remain unconfirmed. Wada’s comments show that the idea is on his personal wish list, but P-Studio has not announced a project or release window for either game.
