Blizzard Entertainment‘s highly successful Overwatch 2, launched in October and garnered over 35 million players within its first month. Now, the game has fans eagerly anticipating more content. Executive producer Jared Neuss has announced that more details on “future plans” for the game will be revealed in April, including updates on new Support heroes slated for Seasons 4 and 6, as well as a special collaboration later this year.
In a recent message on Twitter, Neuss provided a brief update on the upcoming announcements:
“More updates from Aaron on the state of the game! I recently used the word ‘soon’ to describe when we’d be sharing more of our future plans. ‘Soon’ is looking like sometime in April. Working through the details now and will keep y’all posted.”
Previously, Neuss had mentioned that fans would gain insight into what the year holds for Overwatch 2. He clarified that the Player-versus-Environment (PvE) plans would be disclosed shortly, noting that his use of “soon” was closer to its specific meaning rather than the often-joked-about Blizzard Soon™. It remains unclear if the April update includes information about the PvE component.
With the question of scope still lingering, fans are curious about the overall direction of Overwatch 2. Originally intended as a full-fledged game featuring both a campaign and multiplayer modes, Overwatch 2 shifted to a free-to-play model, first releasing its Player-versus-Player (PvP) component. The PvE component is planned for a 2023 release, though it’s uncertain whether the campaign and Hero Missions will be released simultaneously.
