nopixel V’s closed beta will begin September 8, just before GTA VI

Selected participants will initially access the rebuilt server through Rockstar Games Launcher, while nopixel Public and nopixel 4.0 remain active.

nopixel V will enter closed beta on September 8, giving GTA roleplayers a fresh version of one of the scene’s best-known communities to follow. Access will initially go to selected participants through the Rockstar Games Launcher, while the project also plans a public invite waitlist.

A post shared on X describes nopixel V as “a full rebuild of nopixel,” setting expectations for a project built from the ground up rather than a small server refresh.

Why nopixel remains central to GTA RP

GTA RP turns the game into a long-running improv story where players create characters with their own personalities, ambitions, and histories. There is no traditional campaign to finish and no single victory condition. Someone might play a police officer, criminal, doctor, lawyer, taxi driver, or business owner, then build storylines with other players over months or even years.

nopixel became one of the defining communities in that scene through custom mechanics, detailed police procedures, medical treatment systems, and strict rules. Those features helped make its servers a model for the kind of structured roleplay many GTA players enjoy.

Existing nopixel servers will remain active

The new beta will not replace the current communities. Alongside the reset for the nopixel whitelist, nopixel Public and nopixel 4.0 will remain active and supported.

The public invite waitlist gives other players a possible route toward future access, but the announcement only confirms September 8 as the first closed-beta date. It does not provide a wider launch date for nopixel V.

The beta comes before GTA VI’s next major look

Rockstar’s GTA VI release is scheduled for November 19. Before then, an August 27 extended look at GTA VI will premiere behind Netflix’s paywall at 12:00 p.m. PST, 3:00 p.m. EST, 8:00 p.m. GMT, and 9:00 p.m. CEST before reaching YouTube six hours later.

That schedule places nopixel V’s first closed-beta milestone just over two months before GTA VI’s launch. The two projects are separate, but their timing gives GTA roleplayers plenty to watch as Rockstar’s next game approaches. For now, September 8 is the concrete date when selected participants will begin testing the rebuilt server, while the existing Public and 4.0 communities continue running.
