NBA 2K27 MyNBA Will Let You Build a 100-Year Family Dynasty
MyNBA Legacy combines front-office management, player progression, and generational bonuses across four 25-year careers or five 20-year runs.

NBA 2K27 will give MyNBA a much larger sandbox, with a 100-year franchise span, deeper contract negotiations, a new GM Trust system, and a player-focused mode built around generational careers.
The centerpiece is MyNBA Legacy, a single-player mode that lets players control a front office while also taking responsibility for one locked player on the court. A save can begin with any player in the Modern Era, either using their current ratings and badges or sending them back to their rookie version before building a career from scratch.
The full MyNBA Courtside Report was published on August 18, 2026, and covers a wide range of franchise-management changes alongside the new Legacy mode.
Free agency will revolve around promises, incentives, and timing
Free agency in NBA 2K27 will begin with a moratorium period, giving teams a chance to pitch marquee max-level free agents before the main signing window opens. Money will still matter, but it will no longer be the only tool available when several teams are competing for the same superstar.
Max players can ask for broad roster influence, a promise to sign or retain a friend or Dynamic Duo partner, or a commitment to move away from a personal rival. Contracts can also include performance bonuses tied to achievements such as All-NBA selection, Defensive Player of the Year, or a Conference Finals appearance.
Those incentives will appear as Guaranteed, Likely, or Unlikely. Each classification will affect available cap space according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement rules represented in the mode.
A new scrollable depth chart will show the strongest available player at each position during the moratorium. It should make positional shortages easier to spot while tracking which top free agents have already signed. Daily offseason recaps will also summarize major deals, league power rankings, remaining high-value players, and the biggest winners and losers once the period ends.
Morale and GM Trust will connect the locker room to the front office
MyNBA’s morale system will track friendships, rivalries, and personality traits across the league. Shared international, high school, or college experience can create a relationship between players, as can growing up in the same area. Repeated playoff losses to the same opponent can build a rivalry that adds extra tension to future elimination games.
Personality clashes will also affect team chemistry. Pairing two demanding Alpha Dogs, or putting a Keep It Real player beside a Pat My Back teammate, can create friction. Mismatched players will build chemistry more slowly and lose it faster during losing stretches.
Strong relationships work in the other direction. When two players reach a Friendship rating of 50 or higher, they can become a Dynamic Duo. The pair receives a larger overall-rating improvement and dynamic attribute boosts while sharing the floor. Three stars with elite friendships can form a Big 3, unlocking the largest team-wide bonuses as long as they remain together.
Every general manager will begin with a Trust rating of 50. That number will influence how seriously players take promises during negotiations and will also affect locker-room morale.
Trust can rise by completing MyGM tasks, securing player extensions, and re-signing a team’s own free agents. Breaking promises or trading a player on a multiyear contract can lower it. If Trust falls too far, top free agents will not believe a team’s promises, forcing the front office to offer more money to land them.

Twenty-one MyNBA changes target roster building and league rules
The report also highlights 21 examples of administrative and roster-management improvements aimed at the core franchise experience:
- Trades can involve up to four teams, with the asset limit increasing from six to nine per team.
- Veterans on expiring contracts can be offered buyouts, opening access to a dedicated Buyout Market for late-season signings.
- The CBA’s Second Apron will bring trade restrictions and tax penalties for teams spending at the highest levels.
- MyNBA Eras will receive 75 additional historic courts.
- Eurostash contracts, absent since NBA 2K24, will return with a rewritten system designed to represent them more closely.
- All-Star Weekend will use the NBA’s current format.
- The 3-2-1 lottery system will be available as a rule change and as a historic change when starting before the Modern Era.
- Best-of-five series can use alternating home and away games or a 2-2-1 structure. Best-of-seven series can use alternating, 2-2-1-1-1, or 2-3-2 formats.
- Player information will include birthplaces and high schools, which can help establish relationships through shared regions, schools, or colleges.
- Cash considerations can be added to trades and will receive an evaluation based on their value to each team.
- A new setting can disable historic changes, stopping expansion teams, rule changes, and rebrands until the setting is turned back on.
- Missed heaves at the end of a quarter will count toward team attempts but not as individual shot attempts.
- A rule option will cover what happens when a team calls a timeout with none remaining, including possession and the resulting technical foul.
- Neutral-site games, including the NBA Cup final, will receive better matchup comparisons.
- The NBA Cup will appear in player and staff histories.
- Variant NBA Cup cities will support Indianapolis in the current setting, Las Vegas in earlier years, and automatic venue changes through historic rules.
- Clutch Player of the Year will be available as a rule change.
- Limited 10-day contracts will be supported in both the NBA and WNBA.
- The first apron will have effects that more closely follow the CBA.
- Tiebreaker calculations have been corrected so play-in and playoff results better match the real NBA, which is especially important for Start Today saves.
- Defensive effects on simulated shot probabilities will have an upper limit. The change will not affect shooting odds when playing games directly on the sticks.
Rule proposals and draft classes will support alternate NBA histories
Teams will no longer be limited to five rule proposals each offseason. The updated Rule Change engine will allow an unlimited number of proposals across several categories, with historical context, explanations, and custom sliders attached to each option before teams vote.
Historic Draft Playlists will complement the 100-year franchise window. Players can arrange historical draft classes in sequence, randomize player pools for alternate timelines, or combine several playback options:
- Loop: Restart the playlist from the beginning after reaching its end.
- Shuffle: Randomly distribute players from the full pool without duplicate selections.
- Reverse: Run classic draft classes in reverse order.
More retro arena floors and classic uniforms will return as well. Each era will also use contract-length rules based on the CBA in effect during that period, giving historical saves more era-specific roster restrictions.

MyNBA Legacy turns one player into a multigenerational project
MyNBA Legacy will connect the general manager role to a player-locked career. Players can run front-office operations, take control of their chosen Legend during games, or simulate some of the season while still working toward personal milestones.
Progression will come from per-game statistical goals, awards such as MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year, deep playoff runs, and career records. Reaching milestones grants XP, which raises the Legend’s tier and provides two major rewards: improved Badge Tiers and Performance Points.
Badge Tiers will allow players to upgrade, swap, and rearrange badges. Tier 14, called Legend, provides one Legend badge, five Hall of Fame badges, 12 Gold badges, eight Silver badges, and eight Bronze badges. Tier 15, called G.O.A.T., provides three Legend badges, seven Hall of Fame badges, and 10 each of Gold, Silver, and Bronze badges.
Performance Points convert from XP at a 1:1 rate. They can purchase Training Camps focused on attribute groups such as Outside Shooting, Playmaking, and Perimeter Defense, along with Bonus Abilities that affect the player and their future family members.
The long-term target is Tier 30, or Eternal G.O.A.T., where every badge reaches Legend status. MyNBA Legacy saves can pass selected benefits to future generations, creating a progression path that continues after the original player retires.
Bonus Abilities can affect health, contracts, and future players
Performance Points can be spent on several types of upgrades. The Legacy group includes:
- Family Skills: A selected badge and its level pass to the Legend’s future children.
- Private Lessons: Future children begin with an extra Training Camp.
- Legacy: A non-legacy Bonus Ability can also be passed to future children.
Health-focused abilities include The Long Haul, which prevents career-ending injuries; Protected, which prevents major injuries that end a season; and Immune, which prevents all injuries. Hyperbaric Therapy reduces the number of Training Camps needed to prevent age-related physical regression, while Limitless Stamina stops maximum energy from decreasing during games.
For player development, Training Camp improves selected attributes, Pave the Way raises the potential of future children by five, and Legendary Skills immediately grants a Legend-tier badge. Offering permanently removes one badge from the Legend and their children in exchange for increased XP from most sources. Hardware Collector increases XP from personal awards such as MVP.
The miscellaneous abilities add more control over how a career is played. On-Court Coach makes AI teammates respond immediately to commands. Sim Baller increases XP earned by 20%, though the bonus decreases during a season when games are played directly and returns to 20% the following season. Team-Friendly Deal reduces the player’s cap hit to 85% of market value, while Anything for a Ring locks the contract at the league minimum. A second Limitless Stamina option removes in-game stamina loss entirely.
One save can span four 25-year careers
NBA 2K27 will increase the maximum player career from 24 years to 25 years. MyNBA, MyGM, and MyNBA Legacy will all support 100-year franchise runs instead of 80 years.
In MyNBA Legacy, that allows a save to contain four 25-year careers or five 20-year careers. When one Legend retires, the player can continue as their child, who inherits part of the previous generation’s badges, Training Camp bonuses, and other abilities. Championship success can also give descendants a larger starting pool of permanent bonus points.
Players who reach Eternal G.O.A.T. status can activate up to 20 difficulty modifiers. The options include:
- Ranked: Use the ranked settings.
- Tougher Goals: Raise the difficulty of Season Excellence goals.
- Stifled Potential: Lower potential ratings.
- Injury Risk: Make The Long Haul a purchasable ability.
- Automatic Max: Force the Legend to sign a max contract.
- Early Peak: Begin attribute regression at a younger age.
- Inflation: Raise Training Camp costs by 10%.
- Gym Fees: Triple the cost of Limitless Stamina.
- Vocal Haters: Base Finals MVP voting only on the Legend’s worst game of the series.
- The Hard Road: Send the Legend to a low-ranked team they have not won with yet during the offseason.
- The Long Road: Require more XP for each tier, slowing badge progress while raising the eventual ceiling.
- Voter Fatigue: Reduce future MVP vote share for every MVP already won.
- Coach’s Orders: Randomize the first Training Camp.
- Limited Trades: Cap a season at 10 trades.
- Too Many Opps: Give playoff opponents stronger starts in elimination games.
- The Hardest Road: Send the Legend to the lowest-ranked team they have not won with yet.
- Father Time: Require an extra Training Camp each season to prevent regression.
- Tough Critics: Make MVP and Defensive Player of the Year harder to win.
- Few Trades: Cap a season at five trades.
- Above and Beyond: Increase career legacy targets by 25% without increasing XP rewards.
MyNBA Legacy will also include a separate Ranked Mode. The regular sandbox allows free editing of Attributes and Badges, but Ranked Mode uses a strict standardized ruleset for players who want their results measured without those edits.
NBA 2K27 will include optional in-game purchases and paid random items. Share your thoughts on the MyNBA changes in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
