Mirror’s Edge now has support for DLSS, DLAA, and DLSS Frame Generation through a new mod from creator softsoundd. The project adds newer image reconstruction and frame-generation options to the PC version of the Unreal Engine 3 game, which never included them officially.
The original release relies on MSAA for anti-aliasing. Even 8x MSAA at 4K can leave visible jagged edges, particularly around fine or transparent textures. DLAA offers a different approach by processing the image at the game’s native resolution, while DLSS can trade some internal resolution for a cleaner image and higher performance.
DLSS Frame Generation adds another option for raising the displayed frame rate. The mod’s creator built a branch of the Mirror’s Edge RTX Remix runtime that applies NVIDIA’s NGX technologies to the game’s original rasterized output instead of requiring Remix’s usual ray-tracing path. Other upscaling options and vendors are supported as well.
There could be more Unreal Engine 3 projects in line for similar treatment. According to the mod’s description, early testing suggests the branch may work with games such as Batman: Arkham City, BioShock Infinite, and the Mass Effect games, although full compatibility is not guaranteed.
The runtime is available through the creator’s GitHub release page.
