Midnight Murder Club: A Spooky Multiplayer Shooter Set to Haunt PS5 and Steam

Get ready for a chilling multiplayer experience in early 2025!

Do you ever wonder what it’d be like to play flashlight tag with friends while trying not to get shot? Well, wonder no more! Velan Studios has just dropped the news that their upcoming multiplayer shooter, Midnight Murder Club, will hit both PS5 and PC platforms in early 2025. Talk about a late-night gaming session waiting to happen!

The game was initially slated for a PC release this year, but things have shifted gears. We’re looking at an early access launch on Steam and PS5 come February 2025. And if you’re itching for a sneak peek, a cross-play beta is now available!

A new trailer premiered at The Game Awards, showcasing the eerie ambiance of this six-player shooter set in a sprawling mansion where darkness reigns supreme. As Eric Feuerstein, the game director at Velan Studios, put it: “The only light you ever see comes from a flashlight piercing the darkness or gunfire piercing your heart.” Sounds dramatic enough to be a horror flick, right?

Turning on your flashlight lets you explore one of over thirty elaborately decorated rooms. But beware! That beam also gives away your position to lurking enemies who might just be waiting for you to make that rookie mistake. It’s like playing hide-and-seek with deadly consequences.

The sound design promises to increase the tension further. Imagine hearing muffled laughter echoing through the halls while trying to pinpoint where that pesky enemy is hiding. If you’ve ever been caught off-guard by an unexpected ambush during gameplay (and who hasn’t?), then you know how crucial audio can be.

“To further spice things up,” Feuerstein adds, “find vending machines that give you access to various devilish toys.” Night vision pills? Check! Inflatable mannequin decoys? Double check! This sounds like my kind of chaotic fun.

The demo, currently available until December 22, offers two modes, Free-for-All challenges six players against each other for kills before time runs out, while Thief in the Night pits three teams of two against each other, racing to stash skulls into vaults. What do you think about it? Good or bad? Let us know in the comments below!
