Marvel’s Wolverine Trailer Reveals Lady Deathstrike as a Major Villain

The cinematic trailer places Yuriko Oyama alongside Sabretooth and hints at a possible Tokyo showdown.

Marvel’s Wolverine has added another familiar X-Men villain to its cast. A cinematic trailer released on July 16 confirmed that Lady Deathstrike will appear as one of the major threats facing Logan.

Lady Deathstrike, whose real name is Yuriko Oyama, can be seen alongside Sabretooth in the trailer. The footage is being shown before theatrical screenings of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey this weekend, giving audiences another look at Insomniac Games’ upcoming PlayStation 5 adventure.

Sabretooth’s appearance was already known after last month’s State of Play gameplay presentation. Lady Deathstrike’s inclusion, however, is new information. The trailer does not explain how she fits into the story, so her role and relationship with Logan remain under wraps.

The footage may also point toward a Tokyo chapter. Lady Deathstrike has strong ties to Japan in Marvel lore, and the trailer’s setting appears to line up with the Tokyo portion of Wolverine’s globe-spanning campaign. That connection is not confirmed as a boss encounter, but it would be a fitting place for Logan and Yuriko to cross claws.

With the game’s launch less than two months away, Insomniac is continuing to reveal its cast and locations in small pieces. The studio has already confirmed that the game is a linear, single-player experience rather than an open-world title, while recent gameplay has shown Logan fighting enemies and pursuing targets on a motorcycle.

Lady Deathstrike’s reveal gives Marvel’s Wolverine another recognizable adversary beyond Sabretooth. Share your thoughts on her inclusion in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
