Marathon’s mid-season update brings new guns, stronger Recon, and a way to pick up random allies
Bungie's latest Marathon update adds 11 Deluxe weapon variants, a Mercy Kit for reviving non-crew players, and broader balance changes across guns, optics, and implants.

Marathon’s mid-season patch landed with a lot more than a few tuning tweaks. Bungie pushed out Recon improvements, 11 new Deluxe weapon variants, a new CARRI protocol reward track, and the Mercy Kit, which lets players revive strangers they find out in the field.
The Recon changes are meant to make scanning more useful, since the class can now tell bots from players on the map, and the tracker drone is better at following targets. Bungie also added 11 Deluxe uniques to the loot pool across all maps. They are blue-rarity weapons with fixed bonuses, and they sit below the gold variants found only in Cryo Archive.
For a single example, Bungie pointed to the BR33 “Victory Lap” on Marathon’s official X post. It is a Volley Rifle variant with bonuses to Stability, Range, Accuracy, Reload Speed, Move Speed, ADS Speed, Equip Speed, and Aim Assist.
One of mid-season's new Uniques, the BR33 Victory Lap comes with the Trigger Discipline chip, Hi-Zoom Optic, Tru-Shot Barrel, and Feather Mag.
Its unique bonus:

+30 Range
+10 Accuracy
+30 Reload Speed
+30 Move Speed

The patch also introduces CARRI, a commendation system that runs through the end of Season 1. Players earn CyberAcme Commendations for completing contracts, then spend them at the C.A.R.R.I. Armory for weapons, Reputation Packs, and other rewards.
The Mercy Kit is the one change that stands out most. It can revive players outside your crew, cannot be used on yourself, and gives Rooks one by default. That should make random encounters a lot less one-note than the usual shoot-first routine.
Patch Notes
Here are the big balance changes from the update:
- 11 new Deluxe weapon variants were added to the loot pool on all maps.
- Those promised extra battle pass rewards arrived alongside a grip of Arachne shell skins earned through sponsor kits.
- Recon buffs arrived, allowing Marathon’s resident snitch to differentiate between bots and players when scanning the map.
- The tracker drone is also better at tracking now.
- The Mercy Kit was added as a new consumable that lets you revive strangers out in the wild.
- All Rooks will now spawn with one Mercy Kit by default.
- Common Enemy: Damaging enemy combatants causes them to take increased damage from allied or enemy Runners for a short duration.
- Pocket Change: Reloading quickly after a kill or down drops ammo of this weapon’s type.
- Exit Buddy: Downing or killing an enemy grants you and nearby allies increased movement speed with equipped weapons for a short duration.
- Group Therapy: Using a medical item grants you and nearby allies a stacking bonus to your Self-Repair Speed for a short time.
- Herd Immunity: Defeating hostiles grants you and nearby allies a stacking bonus to Hardware and Firewall stats for a short time.
- Fight Club: Striking hostiles with a melee or knife attack grants you and nearby allies a stacking bonus to Melee Damage for a short time.
- Divebomb: When you damage an enemy with explosives, you and nearby allies gain a large temporary boost to Agility.
- Evasive Maneuvers: When your shields break, you and nearby allies gain increased sprint speed and Heat Capacity for a short time.
- The Bully was nerfed in nine different ways, mostly affecting its aim assist and range behavior.
- All Deluxe rarity thermal optics across all weapon archetypes were removed from the loot tables and can no longer drop.
- Superior SP Scope III sniper optics now decreases aim assist and range stats in addition to the ADS speed penalties.
- Superior SP Scope III sniper optics thermal highlight range was decreased from 100m to 80m.
- Longshot now has decreased accuracy when firing rapidly to better reward more methodically paced shots.
- Longshot rate of fire was decreased from 90rpm to 60rpm.
- A bug that allowed the Kingmaker Mag Prestige mod to trigger when shooting teammates was fixed.
The update also gives all implants a visual pass, so head, body, and leg implants now look different in the vault. You still need to mouse over items of the same type to tell them apart, but at least the categories are easier to read at a glance.
