The update follows the October 7 ESRB listings, which raised the possibility of current-gen versions for Mafia II and Mafia III without confirming a release. Mafia III now has a native PS5 version alongside the Xbox Series update.
Beyond the frame-rate increase, the update smooths mission progression, improves achievement tracking, and adjusts NPC and companion behavior. Gameplay, visual, and UI fixes are also included across PC and consoles.

Digital owners of Mafia III: Definitive Edition, Mafia: The Omertà Collection, or Mafia: Trilogy can get the update at no additional cost. Save data from the PS4 and Xbox One versions cannot be transferred to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 edition also has its own set of Trophies.
Mafia III is currently 80% off on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam as part of an ongoing franchise sale. The PlayStation Store listing gives the US price as $5.99 and the UK price as £5.00.
