Let It Die will close online servers in August and sell a one-time offline edition

Grasshopper Manufacture’s free to play combat focused roguelike Let It Die will shut down its online servers on August 31, 2026 at 7pm PDT. The studio is preparing a one time purchasable offline edition that removes live service systems and substitutes offline equivalents so players can keep the game installed and playable without servers.

The game centers on climbing the Tower of Barbs under the guidance of Uncle Death while looting gear and weapons as floors get tougher. Let It Die launched as a free to play title and kept strong visual style and weighty combat, but its online systems are what the upcoming change primarily affects. One online mechanic tied closely to other players is the Haters system. Haters are monsters spawned by the deaths of other players that appear dotted around the Tower of Barbs. Some haters are already implemented as fixed AI loadouts, and Grasshopper’s plan appears to be converting any remaining player sourced elements to AI driven versions for the offline build.

The studio has not given a release date or price for the offline edition. It says the offline version will be offered via Steam for both new and existing players.

The announcement quoted Grasshopper directly about the shutdown and the offline transition. The studio wrote, “With the transition to offline version, the current support for Let it Die’s online service will come to an end on 8/31/2026 at 7pm PDT.” Grasshopper added, “It has been a hell of a ride these past nine years, and we would not have been able to make it this far without the undying support of our Senpais. We are working hard to pour all our love into developing the offline version for you all! The online service may be coming to an end, but Let It Die will continue to evolve. We hope you enjoy these last few months of Let It Die’s online service, and we are looking forward to seeing you in Let It Die offline, Senpai!”

Alongside the announcement Grasshopper shared a trailer for Let It Die and Let It Die: Inferno. The trailer and its official YouTube page are available below:

If you still play, consider whether you want a local copy once servers close. Share your plans or memories of the Tower of Barbs in the comments and tell us whether the Haters change affects how you’ll approach the offline edition. Follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.

Let It Die: Inferno

Developed by SuperTrick Games

Let It Die: Inferno

LET IT DIE: INFERNO is a roguelite survival action game where you can engage in chaotic battles with grotesque monsters, enemy factions, and even other players.

Humanity had just recovered from the unprecedented cataclysm known as “Earth Rage,” when suddenly, a massive chasm appeared—large enough to swallow an entire city whole. Someone began calling the hole “Hell Gate,” and lying at its depths is the “Eye of the Reaper,” a powerful crystal containing the energy to rule the world. Explore, survive, and extract from the Inferno, where stage layouts and item placements differ every match.

In this game, on top of player-versus-environment-versus-player—where players and enemies collide within Hell Gate—there is also a mode for battling exclusively with other players. We hope you enjoy this powered-up version of the LET IT DIE world!
