LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will give Gotham’s villains the spotlight when the Mayhem Collection DLC arrives on Xbox Series X|S on September 18. The add-on puts The Joker and Harley Quinn at the center of a new story mission, a customizable hideout, and repeatable runs across a locked-down part of Gotham. The Xbox Wire announcement details what players can expect from the villain-focused expansion.
Mayhem Collection draws heavily from Batman: The Animated Series, including cutscenes presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio as a nod to the original television format. References to other Batman shows, films, games, and comics will also appear throughout the expansion.
One shop in Gotham, called “Sorkin’s Gems,” pays tribute to Arleen Sorkin, the original voice actor for Harley Quinn who died in 2023. Sorkin’s performance helped define the character, making the reference a fitting detail in an expansion built around Harley’s history.
Harley Quinn’s origin gets a LEGO twist
The new story mission begins with Dr. Harleen Quinzel meeting The Joker at Arkham Asylum. Players will see her transformation into Harley Quinn before the pair break out and throw a chaotic going-away party, complete with a sing-along and a look at more of the asylum’s interior.

After escaping, The Joker and Harley will establish their base beneath the Funhouse in Amusement Mile. Players can decorate several areas of the hideout with Joker and Harley themed props, giving the villains a home base that grows alongside their criminal activities.
Mayhem Mode turns North Island into a repeatable run
Mayhem Mode will send the duo into time-limited runs across a locked-down version of Gotham City’s North Island. Each run focuses on causing as much trouble as possible by robbing shops, smashing ATMs, painting graffiti, stealing vehicles, fighting A.R.G.U.S. agents and Task Force X, and collecting studs.
Studs earned during these runs can be spent on permanent upgrades, hideout decorations, customizer props, and 30 outfits for The Joker and Harley Quinn. The structure gives the DLC a repeatable loop beyond its story mission, with each run feeding back into the villains’ hideout and available gear.
Henchmaster will add another layer to the chaos. After rescuing Arkham inmates in Gotham, The Joker and Harley can have Henchmaster train them and assign them to a customizable crew. Those recruits can then be summoned to fight alongside the two playable villains. Henchmaster originally appeared in Batman: The Joker War Zone #1.
Ranged gadgets set the villains apart
The Joker and Harley Quinn will share some familiar abilities with the game’s original playable characters, but their combat leans harder into ranged gadgets. Both characters can move freely while using those tools, allowing them to control groups of enemies while keeping the action moving through Mayhem Mode.

The add-on builds on the open-world Gotham and Arkham-inspired combat found in the game’s Arkham-style foundation, but its faster movement, villain gadgets, crew system, and repeatable runs give the criminal side of the story its own rhythm. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’s Mayhem Collection will arrive on Xbox Series X|S on September 18.
