Legacy Sends Team Falcons Out of EWC 2026 in a 2-0 CS2 Sweep

Legacy won Mirage 13-7 and Dust 2 13-10 to reach the semifinals and delay Falcons' chance to secure the EWC Club Championship and its $7,000,000 prize.

Legacy eliminated Team Falcons from the Esports World Cup 2026 Counter-Strike 2 bracket on August 21, winning the quarter-final series 2-0. The result sent Legacy into the semifinals and stopped the IEM Cologne 2026 Major winners from immediately securing the EWC Club Championship, along with the $7,000,000 prize attached to first place. It also ended Falcons’ first LAN event since their Major victory.

Legacy locked down Mirage after Falcons’ strong start

Legacy started Mirage on the T side by winning the opening pistol, but Falcons quickly seized control. Ilya ‘m0NESY‘ Osipov repeatedly found multi-kills with the AWP, helping Falcons take seven of the next eight rounds during their CT-side control and build a 7-5 halftime lead. A sharp 1v2 from IGL Andrei ‘arT’ Piovezan kept Legacy within reach.

Legacy answered immediately on defense by winning the second pistol. With a full buy behind them, the Brazilian side turned that advantage into control of the map. Bruno ‘latto’ Rebelatto and the restored Vinicius ‘n1ssim’ Pereira helped form a defense Falcons could not break, allowing Legacy to close Mirage 13-7 without giving up another round during the decisive stretch.

m0NESY still produced a memorable triple during the map, but his individual impact was not enough to stop Legacy’s defensive finish.

The win gave Legacy the first step toward another deep EWC run and put Falcons under pressure on Dust 2, a map where the Major champions had recently looked far more comfortable.

Falcons’ Dust 2 comeback falls short

Legacy again won the opening pistol on Dust 2, but Falcons converted the bomb plant into a second-round force buy and built a 3-1 advantage. Legacy then settled into the map with a strong B-site hold from n1ssim, winning six of the next seven rounds. Santino ‘try’ Rigal also delivered several key AWP rounds as Legacy took a 7-5 halftime lead.

Another pistol win gave Legacy all four pistol rounds in the series. They pushed the score to 9-5 before Falcons finally produced a response. Finn ‘karrigan‘ Andersen and René ‘TeSeS’ Madsen opened one round with pistol kills, giving Nikola ‘NiKo‘ Kovač the AK he needed to shut down several Legacy attacks.

Falcons won two rounds with all five players alive, then strung together five consecutive rounds to move in front at 10-9. n1ssim’s 3k ended Legacy’s five-round drought, and the Brazilians held their nerve at 10-10.

At 10-10, latto opened the round with a double entry. try later found two AWP kills in a late 2v2, putting Legacy on map and match point. Falcons resorted to rushed attacks in the next round, handing Legacy the final kills and a 13-10 finish on Dust 2.

Legacy await Spirit or Vitality

Legacy’s next opponent will be either Spirit or Vitality, depending on the result of their quarter-final. The semifinal spot also continues a pattern against Team Falcons: the two teams previously met in the Grand Final of the CS Asia Championship 2026, where Legacy also came out on top. This victory followed Legacy’s earlier win over NAVI and kept the team moving through the EWC bracket.

Falcons, meanwhile, leave the Esports World Cup after their first LAN appearance since winning a Major, while Legacy continue their run toward the tournament final.

Legacy now moves into the EWC 2026 semifinals. Share your thoughts on the result in the comments, and follow along on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram for more coverage.
