League Classic Patch 3 Will Add 5 Legacy Champions

Fiora, Galio, Poppy, Shyvana, and Xin Zhao will join the mode with older kits, alongside buffs for five champions and nerfs for Anivia, Malzahar, Nasus, and Warwick.

League Classic is scheduled to receive its third patch on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, adding five champions from earlier eras of League of Legends. Riot designer David ‘Phreak’ Turley says Patch 3 will bring Fiora, Galio, Poppy, Shyvana, and Xin Zhao into the mode, alongside a balance pass that lines up with Summoner’s Rift Patch 26.18.

Riot is grouping these additions by theme rather than following the champions’ original release order. This batch is centered on Demacia, and each character arrives with an older kit that can play very differently from the modern version. League Classic’s broader plan is built around a 60-champion roster and old-school systems, as outlined in our early look at the mode.

Five champions return with their older kits

Fiora uses her Season 3 AD caster design. Duelist restores health on hit and builds an effect against enemy champions, while Lunge deals damage and can be cast twice during its cooldown. Riposte passively grants attack damage and reflects one attack without locking Fiora in place. Burst of Speed provides attack speed and builds movement speed through attacks. Her Blade Waltz ultimate strikes five random targets, dealing less damage when it hits the same target again.

Galio also returns with his Season 3 kit. Runic Skin grants ability power based on his magic resistance, while Resolute Smite damages and slows enemies in a targeted area. Bulwark gives an ally, including Galio himself, armor and magic resistance, then heals Galio when that champion takes a hit. Righteous Gust damages enemies in a line and leaves a draft that increases allied movement speed. Idol of Durand turns Galio into a statue that taunts nearby enemies before dealing damage based on the attacks absorbed during the channel.

Poppy’s older abilities bring back Valiant Fighter, which halves incoming damage above 10 percent of her current health. Devastating Blow turns her next attack into magic damage that scales with her health. Paragon of Demacia builds attack damage and armor through hits dealt and received, with an activation that grants full stacks and bonus movement speed. Heroic Charge knocks an enemy back, dealing more damage and stunning the target if it hits terrain.

Diplomatic Immunity is the real time capsule in Poppy’s kit. She chooses one enemy and gains bonus damage against that target for several seconds, while every other champion is unable to damage, debuff, or crowd-control her. The ability creates some strange old-school possibilities, including choosing one champion for immunity while attacking another.

Shyvana uses her Season 2 abilities. Twin Bite makes her next attack strike twice and refunds part of its cooldown when it lands. Burnout grants movement speed and damages nearby enemies, with its duration increasing through attacks. Flame Breath damages an enemy and reduces its armor, while Shyvana’s basic attacks deal more damage to marked targets. Her ultimate sends her forward as a dragon, dealing damage and knocking enemies back while improving her other abilities.

Xin Zhao arrives with his Season 3 kit from after his first rework. Challenge reduces the armor of the last enemy he attacked. Three Talon Strike strengthens his next three basic attacks, reduces his cooldowns as they connect, and knocks up the target on the final hit. Battle Cry grants attack speed, while Audacious Charge dashes to an enemy, dealing damage, slowing them, and applying Challenge. Crescent Sweep damages nearby enemies and knocks back those without Challenge, while granting Xin Zhao extra resistances for each champion hit.

Patch 3 also adjusts nine existing champions

Gangplank, Heimerdinger, Kayle, Skarner, and Teemo will receive slight buffs. Anivia, Malzahar, Nasus, and Warwick will be nerfed, giving the balance pass four nerfs rather than treating Nasus as a separate bug fix.

Turley also says Tryndamere’s previous 60 percent win rate has been brought under control, leaving Classic in a better balance state than it had in recent patches. Riot plans to keep releasing more than one champion in each patch for the foreseeable future. With updates scheduled every two weeks, the Classic roster should continue growing much faster than League of Legends did during its original era.
