Kingdom Hearts 4 Could Get New Details at D23 After Tai Yasue Appears in the Event App

The D23 app lists Yasue alongside Haley Joel Osment, who voices Sora and Vanitas, and David Gallagher, the voice of Riku. According to Kingdom Hearts Insider, all three are possible participants at D23. The event listing also names Nana Gadd from Disney & Pixar Games and Renee Johnson, who provides voices for Disney characters. Their listings do not confirm that they will appear during the Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts panel specifically, so a Kingdom Hearts 4 presentation remains unconfirmed.
The franchise’s D23 showcase is scheduled as a retrospective and behind-the-scenes look at how the Kingdom Hearts games were made. D23 describes the session as a celebration of 25 years of Kingdom Hearts, with discussion from creative minds, character voices, and other people involved with the series. The August 15, 2026 event had already been identified as a new date to watch for fans waiting on information about the next mainline game. Disney Games has also announced that the presentation will stream on Disney YouTube at 4:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 p.m. ET, while The Game Awards will also broadcast it on YouTube and through its Twitch channel, as Geoff Keighley confirmed in a post on X. Yasue’s inclusion gives the event a direct connection to the series’ development, even if the panel spends most of its time looking back.
Disney’s games initiative update describes Kingdom Hearts as a billion-dollar franchise. The post says that “nine games have grossed over $1 billion at retail,” but it does not provide a game-by-game breakdown. That wording does not confirm that a single Kingdom Hearts title passed $1 billion; it describes the series at a franchise level instead.
Yasue co-directed Kingdom Hearts 3 and also worked on spin-offs including Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance. That background puts him in a strong position to discuss the franchise’s past and, potentially, its next chapter. If he takes part in the panel, fans could hear a lead developer discuss the direction of Sora, Donald, and Goofy’s next adventure. The app listing alone does not confirm that those topics will come up.
Announced in 2022, Kingdom Hearts 4 has received only two trailers so far, and they have left plenty of story details open to interpretation. The game was re-revealed earlier this summer with PS5 gameplay footage, giving fans a recent look at the project before the D23 stream. More footage would help explain where the narrative is heading and how familiar characters may fit into the sequel.
The upcoming Kingdom Hearts Collection could also be discussed at D23. Planned for October 2026, the package will contain the three mainline games released so far and is scheduled to come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The game still has no release window. D23 may provide more footage or character details, but there is no confirmation that the event will share launch timing for the next mainline installment.
