Hunt: Showdown 1896’s Road to Hell Chapter 3 Is Live With New Fog and Crashed Balloons
The permanent Desolation's Call Legacy Chronicle costs 1,250 Blood Bonds, while Fog of War offers 100% more Hunt Dollars during Missions.
Road to Hell – Chapter 3 is now live in Hunt: Showdown 1896. Crytek detailed the new chapter in its official Steam announcement, which marks the final stage of the Road to Hell storyline.
The update adds a permanent Legacy Chronicle, a new Cargo Crate type, the Crashed Balloon point of interest, Strongholds in Bounty Clash, and a fog-focused Weekend Contract. It follows Chapter 2’s Stronghold Cargo Balloon system, which turned Strongholds into risky extraction objectives.
Desolation’s Call is now available
The new Legacy Chronicle follows Desolation’s Delegate, formerly known as The Statesman, as he continues his plan involving the 26th Regiment and a search for occult clues. The Chronicle is based on a key character from Desolation’s Wake, which arrived with Update 1.16.
Desolation’s Call is permanent and has no completion deadline. It contains 21 total rewards across four chapters and costs 1,250 Blood Bonds. Rewards include a Legendary Hunter, weapon skins for the Bornheim No. 3, Frontier 73C, Mako 1895, and Marathon, equipment animations, Charms, a Badge, and the Lawmaker Title.
Confiscated Cargo Crates bring more extraction rewards
The Confiscated Cargo Crate can appear at Strongholds and grants random rewards when extracted, much like Dark Tribute. Its spawn chance will be higher during five scheduled Chapter 3 weekends. Every Crashed Balloon location also contains one guaranteed Confiscated Cargo Crate.

Crashed Balloons will appear at random locations across the map and will not show on the mini map. Hunters who find one can collect a random free Scarce Weapon, another random weapon, Hunt Dollar Purses, a Confiscated Cargo Crate, and a random Ammo Box for swaps.
Strongholds arrive in Bounty Clash
Strongholds are now part of Bounty Clash and will remain in the mode until Chapter 3 ends. These locations feature a Caged Boss Target, a Maxim M1895, and exclusive Event items.
Fog of War pays double Hunt Dollars
Fog of War is a new Weekend Contract with more foggy weather and other low-visibility conditions. Missions during the contract award 100% more Hunt Dollars. The contract has an August 5 start date alongside Chapter 3.

New Legacy Chronicle: Desolation’s Call
With Chapter 3 of Update 2.8, we are releasing our second Legacy Chronicle to reintroduce re-colored versions of highly sought-after past Mythic cosmetic content to the game. Desolation’s Call is based on one of the key characters from Desolation’s Wake (Update 1.16) and tells the story of Desolation’s Delegate (formerly known as The Statesman) following up on his masterplan involving the 26th Regiment and a search for information and occult clues for some darker purpose.

Fog of War
Fog of War is a new Weekend Contract where Hunters will face an increase in foggy weather and other low-visibility conditions as well as earn 100% more Hunt Dollars in Missions, all thanks to the dark influence of Desolation’s Delegate.
