Hellblade 2 could make its way to PS5. Well, it might just happen sooner than we expected. Let’s break down what we’ve learned.
Recent insights from Jez Corden, executive editor at Windows Central, suggest that Microsoft is eyeing a release for Hellblade 2 on Sony’s console. In a post on X, he hinted at the possibility of the game being available “pretty soon.” This news arrived alongside an announcement from Sony, who is planning a unique 40-minute State of Play presentation focusing on upcoming titles for the PS5.
Corden cheekily remarked, “Hellblade 2 time maybe? :)” sparking excitement among fans. When asked if this game would eventually land on PlayStation, he confidently replied, “Not if, ‘when!’ and when is pretty soon from what I’ve been hearing.” That certainly adds an interesting twist to the ongoing discussions about exclusive titles.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft has shifted gears regarding platform exclusives. Earlier this year, they announced plans to bring several games to rival platforms like Nintendo Switch and Sony’s consoles. Titles such as Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded have already crossed over.
The momentum doesn’t stop there. Microsoft has also confirmed releases for other big titles like Doom: The Dark Ages, which are set for both Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Moreover, their upcoming Indiana Jones game will see a PS5 version launching this spring.
This approach seems to reflect Microsoft’s changing strategy under CEO Phil Spencer. He stated that no first-party Xbox game would be ruled out for release on other platforms. It opens up exciting possibilities for players across different systems.
Matt Booty, president of game content and studios at Microsoft, explained that decisions regarding exclusivity are made based on each game’s unique needs and timelines. He emphasized wanting great experiences for Xbox players while considering future availability on other platforms.
