GTA 6 Will Let Players Build Their Own Routine in Vice City
Aaron Garbut cited shopping, train rides and clubs, while Rob Nelson said players should be free to lean into the activities they enjoy.

GTA 6 is meant to give players room to spend a day in Vice City on their own terms, whether that means shopping, taking the train or visiting a club. Rockstar’s development leads say those activities should be inviting without making players feel they have to take part.
In an Edge interview, development head Aaron Garbut described everyday choices Rockstar wants players to have, including buying cigarettes and beer, riding the train for the day or going to a club.
Rob Nelson, another head of development, said Rockstar is trying to avoid piling on activities until they feel compulsory. Players should be able to gravitate toward what they enjoy and settle into their own rhythm.
Leonida offers other ways to spend time outside the main story, too. The Edge feature describes a zoo date for Jason and Lucia, snorkeling, and simply driving around the region.
That approach reaches public transit, too. Lead developer Phil Hooker said he sometimes takes a bus during playtests instead of driving, checking that it runs on time and reaches the right place. He has memorized the routes, a specific example of the attention Rockstar is giving to the quieter routines players may choose.
Which of these activities would you want to build into a day in Leonida? Follow the conversation around GTA 6’s everyday systems on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam and Telegram.
