GTA 6 developers celebrate the Netflix showcase after weeks of leaks
The team praised the public response after more than a dozen clips leaked online and Rockstar took legal action.

GTA 6 developers are celebrating the game’s August 27 Netflix extended look, turning a long-awaited public moment into a chance for the team to see audience reactions. Several Rockstar Games employees shared their pride after the presentation, with Bradley Stone calling the project “Rockstar’s magnum opus.”
The work behind the game has taken 13 years, and the showcase arrived after more than a dozen leaked clips circulated online. The leaks prompted legal action from Rockstar, but Rockstar kept the Netflix premiere on schedule, allowing the presentation to go ahead on August 27.
The public-facing presentation is also available in video form.
Rockstar’s team shares its reaction
Joe David, a senior mission designer, captured the immediate mood by writing, “What a day – everything looks incredible. Massive well done to everyone involved.”
Anoop Ravi Thomas, an associate principal graphics programmer, said he was “so proud to have been part of this journey” and glad that players had finally received a preview of what they would play. Senior QA tester Jacob Lloyd shared a similar reaction, saying he was “so excited for people to finally see what we’ve been working on.”
Other team members focused on the people behind the game. Senior QA tester Dan Willey described working with the project’s talented staff as a privilege in his post. Motion capture animator Rhys Bassett was especially proud of the extended look and the motion capture and animation teams, writing that he was “beyond excited and proud” to see it released.
For the developers, the Netflix event offered more than another piece of marketing. It gave them a public reaction to years of work, with players finally able to see how the world, characters, animation, and missions were coming together.
Bradley Stone, the lead game tools programmer, summed up his reaction in equally strong terms, writing that “this is Rockstar’s magnum opus.” He also said his team helped build and lead an in-engine editor for artists creating the world and designers working on missions and other content.
I am beyond proud and excited for everyone to see the #GTAVI extended look.
For this game, I've help build and lead an amazing team that develops our unique in-engine editor for artists to create this truly in-depth world and the designers to create impressive missions/content… https://t.co/MnLqmdNNE6

The positive response arrived after a rough stretch for Rockstar, with leaked footage threatening to overshadow the studio’s planned presentation. The extended look now gives the developers their own moment in front of the audience they have spent years building the game for.
