Grand Theft Auto VI’s Website Now Displays a PEGI 18 Rating
PEGI's advisory lists frequent violence and strong language, while regional PlayStation Store listings mention sex scenes ahead of the scheduled Nov. 19, 2026 release.

Grand Theft Auto VI’s official website now displays a PEGI 18 rating on its Rockstar page, and a separate PEGI entry fills in several details behind that classification.
Australia’s PlayStation Store listing and New Zealand’s listing both use the phrase “Sex Scenes” in their Restricted 18+ classifications. The website update itself offers no explanation for the rating, and the regional wording does not reveal which scenes appear in the game or how they are presented.
PEGI’s entry lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with a Nov. 19, 2026 release date. Its notice says that date remains confirmed, while any other dates attached to the product are informational only.
The advisory describes frequent violence and says players can harm civilians and other characters in the open world. Domestic animals can also be harmed, although their injuries are shown with less detail than injuries to human characters.
Frequent strong language is also flagged, including the words “fuck” and “cunt.” Discriminatory language can be heard in shows and on radio channels, and PEGI notes that players can purchase in-game items.
In the United States, Grand Theft Auto VI carries an M for Mature rating, while the United Kingdom and Europe use PEGI 18+. Across those classifications, the warnings include blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and drug and alcohol use.
Sexual content has appeared in earlier Grand Theft Auto games, including encounters with sex workers. Australia’s rating for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy also uses the separate descriptor “Sexual Activity Related To Incentives And Rewards,” while the New Zealand listing does not mention that category.
Grand Theft Auto VI follows a couple, but the new rating language does not clarify whether the sexual-content warning refers to story scenes or other material. These classifications describe how rating boards have categorized the game rather than providing a scene-by-scene account of its content.
Does naming “Sex Scenes” communicate something that a broader sexual-content warning does not, or does PEGI’s detailed violence and language advisory stand out more?
