Garry’s Mod September 2026 Update Is Live With 64-Bit Support and New Sandbox Tools
The update also adds Hacked Manhacks, a damageable Dropship NPC, spawnmenu categories, and a reworked player model selector.

Garry’s Mod has received its September 2026 Update, bringing 64-bit binaries to the Windows game client, dedicated servers, and most developer tools, including Hammer. The change reduces the risk of crashes caused by exhausting the 32-bit memory address space on busy servers or setups with many addons installed.
Players can select the 64-bit game client through Steam launch options. Facepunch confirmed the release in its Steam update notice.
The update had previously been scheduled for September 16, with backward-compatible servers and beta branches available for testing. That earlier September 16 release plan has now given way to the live version.
Spawnmenu and player model tools get new options
Sandbox players can now find a new NPC variation called Hacked Manhacks in the spawnmenu. The Dropship NPC can also take damage and is no longer invulnerable when spawned in Sandbox.
Content tabs in the spawnmenu now support subcategories, giving addons a way to organize their entries and making larger collections easier to browse.

The player model selector has also been rebuilt with categories, a larger layout, and improved rendering that better represents how a model will look in the game world.

Standalone Insurgency (2014) is now available as a new mountable game. Facepunch also included smaller fixes, optimizations, and other improvements for the game client and developer tools. The complete change list is available in the September 2026 update post.
Garry’s Mod September 2026 Update Patch Notes
The update’s largest change affects Windows memory handling, while the content changes focus on Sandbox NPCs, menu organization, player model presentation, and mountable games.
64-bit binaries on Windows
-
This update brings 64-bit binaries for the Windows game client, dedicated servers and most developer tools, such as Hammer, to every version of the game.
-
This means that there’s now less risk of running out of the 32-bit memory address space and subsequently crashing when playing on heavy servers or with a lot of addons installed.
-
The 64-bit game client can be selected from Steam launch options.
Content Updates
-
New NPC variation was added to the spawnmenu – Hacked Manhacks. In addition to that, the Dropship NPC can now take damage and is no longer invulnerable when spawned in Sandbox.
-
Spawnmenu got a few tweaks – content tabs can now have sub categories, which should help find what you are looking for faster. Naturally this system is open for addons to take advantage of.
-
The player model selector menu has also been overhauled with categories, increased size and improved model rendering that better represents how the player model would actually appear in the game world.
-
Finally, there’s now a new mountable game – standalone Insurgency (2014) game.
Smaller stuff
-
As usual this update also brings a huge amount of smaller fixes, optimizations and other improvements as well, to both the game client and the developer tools.
