Game Freak Director Says Beast of Reincarnation Still Has Work to Do

Kota Furushima apologized for playability problems and said the team will keep improving the action RPG while listening to player feedback.

Game Freak director Kota Furushima apologized to players who have struggled with Beast of Reincarnation and said the team intends to continue improving the action RPG. A patch has already begun addressing some problems, but Furushima made it clear that more work remains.

After launching on August 3, 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, the game faced complaints about performance and other parts of the playing experience. Furushima’s comments place those concerns directly in front of the development team rather than treating the launch version as finished.

Game Freak acknowledges the game’s rough spots

In a translated interview with 4Gamer, Furushima said Game Freak still had issues to address and apologized for the parts of the game that had made it difficult for players to enjoy themselves.

“First of all, I feel there are still things that need to be addressed honestly and sincerely. We apologize for the parts where you haven’t been able to play comfortably enough.”

Furushima also said the ideas Game Freak wanted to communicate through the project had reached players. At the same time, he acknowledged that some areas needed improvement so the intended experience could come through more clearly.

The existing patch is only part of the response. In the same 4Gamer interview, Furushima thanked the people currently playing and said the team would respond carefully to feedback as it continued working on the game.

At the time of the interview, Beast of Reincarnation had a 73/100 Metacritic score based on 60 PS5 reviews. The number sits alongside criticism of the game’s playability, helping explain why Furushima addressed both the project’s intended strengths and the issues affecting players.
